The Missing Shoe...

Image
You're probably wondering why there's a photo of a pair of shoes along with a lone shoe.  Well, there's a story behind that funny photo you see.  The photo is also a lesson in why you should never let your 3 year old hold the bag of with her new shoes in them as she rides in the stroller during the walk home from a shopping trip. So, the story... The weather was nice today and since it was Saturday, I decided to take Charlotte out with me shopping on 82nd Street in Jackson Heights.  I figured it was a good opportunity to get a good walk in, while spending time with Charlotte. Lately, I haven't been able to have one on one time with her because all of my attention has been focused on Logan.  We headed out around 10:15AM, leaving Allan home to take care of Logan.  The temperature felt pretty cold at first if you weren't walking in the sun, but it was still comfortable and by the time we got to the shopping district, I was all warmed up from the walk. The purp

Fall TV has me hooked

Image
It's been a while since I've gotten hooked on television shows.  The last time I watched TV religiously was Thursday nights back when Private Practice was on. I would watch Grey's Anatomy at 9PM and then Private Practice at 10PM. Those two hours of Thursday night TV were not to be missed, especially Private Practice.  That was my show mainly because I absolutely LOVED the cast.  Come on, you've got Kate Walsh, Audra McDonald, Amy Brenneman, Paul Adelstein, Tim Daly, KaDee Strickland, Brian Benben and late series addition Caterina Scorsone.  I was sad when the show got cancelled.  I blame my getting hooked on Fall TV because of me being on maternity leave.  Three years ago when I was on leave my guilty pleasure was cable and specifically watching "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." I know, I know, the show is complete garbage but I was home and what can I say, I wanted to watch something. Yes, I could have watched Netflix but there was cable and the show just

This Is Us - Kyle

Image
Previously on "This Is Us" viewers were left with quite the twisty ending.  Grandma and Grandpa stopped by to visit Randall and the kids, but Grandma and Grandpa were in the form of Rebecca and... Miguel??  Unfortunately, we didn't get an answer to the Miguel mystery, but in the latest helping of NBC's hit show, viewers got to were treated to how Randall got his name.  I will say it wasn't surprising his original name began with a K, after all there's Kevin and Kate.  But Kyle didn't really fit. "WE HAD A DEAL" - Randall breaks the news to Rebecca that he's found his biological father, William.  He's been staying at the house for a week and all he knows about him is that he's got a cat and he has stomach cancer.  Rebecca listens to Randall and for a moment, you're not sure how she's going to respond but surprisingly she asks Randall if she could meet him.  Come to find out, Rebecca knew who William was, having met him 36

Designated Survivor - The First Day

Image
Do you remember your first full day at a new job? Did it go as smoothly as you hoped?  Well, Tom Kirkman's first full day as President wasn't great.  Then again, what's to be expected from someone who's been thrusted into a position he's clearly unprepared for. Nobody is perfect and I don't expect Kirkman to be an expert at what he is doing.  If anything, this series will highlight how no one can be fully prepared to be a leader.  Kirkman will have good moments only to be knocked back a peg or two a half hour later. He'll make mistakes and but he will move forward because what else is there to do? Someone needs to step up. Good ol' General Cochrane will never warm up to Kirkman being the President, that's clear.  I get him wanting to give a show of force and name Al-Sakar as the ones behind the bombing.  Kirkman does have a point, 75% isn't enough, but being 100% sure isn't going to happen either unless a group steps forward.  FBI Ana

"BIG THREE!" - This Is Us, 9/27/16

Image
Deep breath. "First came, me and Dad said, 'Gee.' And then came me, and Mom said, 'Whee!' And then came me, and Dad said, "That's three." "Big Three.  BIG THREE!" Good news, "This Is Us" has been picked up for a full season (an additional 5 episodes, making the season a total of 18 episodes.) The news broke hours prior to the airing of the show's second installment and of course, the episode did not fail to disappoint. It was filled with that goodness of Campbell's soup on cold, wintry day and topped off with a cherry of a twist from an ice cream sundae. The emotions are still there and this was an episode where we got to look into the different windows of the character's lives. As mentioned elsewhere, the second episode picked up later in time. Jack and Rebecca's triplets are around 8 years old, maybe 9 and we open with a scene in the kitchen. Rebecca is busy being the super-mom she is making lunch

Presidential Debate 9/26/16 -- My thoughts

Image
Last night was the first Presidential Debate between Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump.  Who won? The Democrat in me says Hillary Clinton and yes, I will be voting for her on Election Day.  But to be honest, the debate had no clear winner. Depending on which side of the political spectrum you lean toward, you will say your candidate won.  What I do know and feel is that Donald Trump is not qualified to be leader of our country. Yes, that is the Democrat in me speaking, but if you look at what transpired over the 90 minutes, can you honestly say you want Trump as President, regardless if you are Democrat or Republican? I wasn't able to pay close attention to what was going on because the activity on Twitter was as exciting, along with a 3year old distracting me and a 1 month old asking for his next bottle (thankfully Daddy took care of that), but I was to get that Trump liked to interrupt Clinton whenever she spoke and sniffled a lot.  What

Is that Jack Bauer in the White House? No, it's the "Designated Survivor"

Image
Per Wikipedia : Designated Suvivor -  In the United States, a  designated survivor  (or  designated successor ) is an individual in the  presidential line of succession , usually a member of the  United States Cabinet , who is arranged to be at a physically distant, secure, and undisclosed location when the President and the country's other top leaders (e.g., Vice President and Cabinet members) are gathered at a single location, such as during  State of the Union addresses  and  presidential inaugurations . This is intended to guarantee  continuity of government  in the event of a catastrophic occurrence that kills the President and many officials in the presidential line of succession. If such an event would occur, killing both the President and Vice President, the surviving official highest in the line, possibly the designated survivor, would become the  Acting President of the United States  under the  Presidential Succession Act . Kiefer Sutherland made his return to TV

Must See TV -- NBC's "This Is Us"

Image
This past Tuesday, a new show aired on NBC titled, "This Is Us" and I think the network has a new hit.  When the trailer premiered earlier in the summer, it had received so many hits.  From what I read, it was one of NBC's most anticipated shows for the Fall season. After seeing the first episode, I can see why. The show stars Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia (from  Heroes, Gilmore Girls), Justin Hartley, Sterling K. Brown (newly minted Emmy winner), and Chrissy Metz, along with a few others, but those named above are who the stories are centered around.  When the show opens, we see Mandy Moore playing a very pregnant Rebecca and Milo Ventimiglia -- rather, his bare butt in the first scene, as Jack.  It's his birthday and I guess their tradition every year is a sexy birthday dance followed by some sexy time for the both of them.  Unfortunately, they never do get to the sexy time because Rebecca's water breaks and it's time for their triplets to make their de

Oh, the sleep deprivation

Well, I am back and a lot sure has happened in the past month. We are now a family of four, having welcomed my baby boy, Logan Daniel on August 21st.  That was a memorable day, considering he was scheduled to be delivered on August 23rd (also Charlotte's birthday) but he had other plans.  Or better yet, he decided he did not want to share a birthday with his older sister.  I say good for him.  When I had his c-section date scheduled, I wasn't too keen on August 23rd, but my doctor said the 22nd wasn't available.  He ended up making his own plans on his debut because really, babies run the show, not the adults. Ha! And they really do.  I haven't slept more than 3 hours a night since he came home last month.  Such is the norm with a newborn baby in the house. I am hoping he turns a corner soon and starts sleeping longer stretches at night. At most, all I want it five blissful hours of sleep.  1AM to 6AM sounds ideal. Here's hoping that comes soon, but that all depen

Coming soon... the next Flores Family Production

*clears the dust off the blog* Whew! Oh it has been a while since I wrote here. Originally, I wanted to make this a travel blog, but since I haven't been traveling at all since last year, I figured I might as well change things up. Stay tuned... because the next Flores Family Production is making a debut.
