Last full day in paradise

Welcome to our last full day in paradise.  And while I'm writing this blog post two months after our vacation ended, I still remember every bit because we didn't do much except relax and enjoy the surroundings. We woke up at our usual time, 8:00AM and started getting ready for the day.  Since we had a routine down, it didn't take us long to get washed up and head down to the buffet for breakfast.

We said "hello" to our little friends along the way.  It's pretty much normal for us to see all the lizards and iguanas out lounging as we headed to The Palm.  And as always, I've got the camera out snapping photos of them because I can't help it.

After breakfast (and stashing some waffles in a ziploc bag) we headed back to the room to get ready for pool time.  It was around 10AM when we headed down to the pool and Charlotte was thrilled.  But let me preface this by saying we were smart time time and dropped off some stuff on two lounge chairs that had and umbrella and some shade before heading to breakfast. This ensured we wouldn't have to search for a spot when we came down to the pool mid-morning.

Our lounge chair reserving paid off as by the time we did get to the pool, most of the good spots were taken.  Without bodies covered in sunscreen, the three of us went into the pool making Charlotte happy.  She's grown to love pool time even if it's just her sitting with one of us at the steps while she fills her bucket with water and pours it out.  She could do that all day.  Every now and then, Allan and I would alternate bringing her further in but she was more content with her bucket and the steps.

We spent nearly two hours in the pool and got out around noon as the sun was starting to beat down and the there were more people in the pool. Cue the usual Charlotte being upset that we're leaving her favorite spot int the resort and then not liking the bath afterwards.  Upside is Charlotte taking a nap after her bath.

Later in the afternoon, we took a walk along the path that was parallel to the beach.  I wanted to snap some photos of the sunset.  As we walked, we saw the other resorts near us.  When we return to Aruba, we may stay at the Playa Linda resort.  From the outside, it looked pretty impressive and really caught my eye.  There was some construction going on but from what I read on the website, it should be done by the end of summer 2015.  We also walked the opposite way and almost made it to the Riu.  We spotted a wedding reception and a beach party during our time out and by the time we returned, the sun had set and it was time for dinner.

Our last dinner at the Occidental was at the Italian restaurant. We were seated indoor this time because we were both wearing jeans as opposed to last time when we were both in shorts. I guess adhering to the dress code made a difference this time.   Afterwards, we took our nightly walk around the lobby to let Charlotte burn off some energy.  We stopped in at the theatre to see what was going on and to our surprise, there was a GREASE performance going on. Charlotte bobbed her head to the music and we only stayed around 10 minutes since we needed to get back upstairs to pack our suitcases.

Packing was a breeze, since it was easy to segregate our dirty clothing from clean clothing.  Our second suitcase was a lot lighter this time because there was less diapers to be packed.   I don't remember what time we all fell asleep. but it was another good day in paradise.
